Planet liga is an exciting game that brings the worlds of football and sustainability together in a fun way. The game is designed for teams of five and can be played by people of all ages. The aim of the game is to score the most points in a season by completing activities which reduce your environmental footprint. Fleetwood Town Community Trust are working with the UK soccer climate action network, Planet League to help promote the game.

Planet League was set up to use the power of football to get people taking more green actions in their everyday lives. They’ve already helped mobilise 200,000 eco-friendly activities by supporters and footballers. These actions include everything from eating meat-free meals to turning down the heating a bit.

This new partnership will see Arsenal fans Planetliga participating in a range of “money can’t buy” prizes by demonstrating their commitment to taking green actions at home, in work and in the community. The fan-led tournament will be developed by Planet League and supported by Ball Corporation – the leading sustainable aluminum packaging brand – which works with the football club sector to help them on their journey to more sustainable operations.

During the course of two tournaments (Winter and Spring), all the teams will play each other once at home and once away. The team that finishes in the bottom position will be relegated to the League B. The team that finishes in the top position will be promoted to the League A.

In addition to this, there will be a number of Long Format games during the regular season that will count towards a team’s overall standing in the league table. These games will be announced at a later date.

The rules of the league can be found here. Any violations of the rules will result in penalties for players, coaches and team reps. All players and team reps must read the rules carefully to make sure they understand them.

If you have any questions regarding the league, please contact the league coordinator. Any social media misconduct that is deemed to be inappropriate by the league will result in suspensions.

Similarly, players with serious injuries may be given suspensions for their participation in the league. The league reserves the right to review all suspensions and may apply a different penalty than that described in the rules.
